First Mother’s Day

May 14, 2013

My first Mother’s Day was AMAZING!!  Bran made me a printed out agenda of the day..which was just the best present ever.  He knows me so well.  Jonen was so excited for the day that he decided to wake up at 5:00.   We went to church, ate good food, gardened, I got a foot massage.  Just great.

I’m kinda getting this whole parenting thing now.  You have no idea what you are doing, so you are making things up and adapting along the way.  By the time you have it figured out, your child has moved onto the next phase of development with all new discoveries.  That being said, tomorrow is another first for me.  I will leave Jonen all day with Darrah (our amazing babysitter).  I’ve left Jonen with Brandon all day before and never think twice about it.  Bran is an amazing dad.  I feel sad to think that one of us won’t be with him all day.  I also know we are extremely blessed to be able to spend as much time with him as we do.

Also, my baby is getting to be a non baby!  He is now in 9-12 month sizes, which are not in the baby section at the store.  Boo!!

Cool things Jonen is up to?

  • He is in another study at the UW. This one is around language development and music.
  • He had a photo shoot in Seward Park on Saturday.  Check out some of the images below taken by our friend Michael Maine.
  • Standing…well only a couple of times, but pretty cool. The first time was with his feet in the grass at the park.
  • Plays “fetch.” Bran puts him in the crib or pack and play and gives him a toy.  He throws it to Bran, Bran throws it back.  Jonen gets it throws it back.
  • Helped Mama pick some chard from the garden.  Jonen tried to eat it and vomited…whoops!
  • Still eating everything.
  • Lots of laughing!

Gosh! He is so cute, Beth! And the 3 of you look great and happy! I am so glad that I get to read your postings and see Jonen’s amazing progress. Kids grow pretty fast….mine is about to graduate from Ballard HS and moving on to UW this fall. Enjoy every minute of motherhood. Blessings, love and peace to you, Brandon & Jonen – warm regards – rose
