February – Glad it is the shortest month!

March 7, 2014

February was a pretty horrible month. There were a lot of reasons why it was so annoying, but the main reasons were sickness.  Jonen had one week where he ran 102 fever, so he couldn’t go to school.  Bran took off one day and I took off another.  No problem.  THEN the next week we got the call that Jonen was throwing up at school.  Again, Bran took off one day and I took the other. THEN I got the vomiting.  Ugh.  So I’m hoping that March is much better!

There were some things that made February somewhat redeeming:

Jonen is talking…a LOT!  He is mostly a noun boy (airplane, birdie, choo choo, falafel, hummus), but he now has some verbs (cook, hide, clean, crawl, and fall).  He learns as least one new word a day.  He is even speaking Japanese.  We only hear sensei (teacher), but we learned in our first parent teacher conference that he uses other words as well.

Jonen’s personality is so great.  He is such an observant child.  We have been going to story time at the library and he just watches all the kids and checks everything out before he starts to play.

We decided to be a homestay family for the iLeap program.  (We are a last minute replacement for a family that dropped out.  We decided to do it three days before the students arrived.)  Tomo arrived from Japan on Monday, and he is a very nice kid.  He is 19 years old and lived in a town that was destroyed by the tsunami 3 years ago.  Jonen LOVES having Tomo around.  He keeps saying “momo”.

Wow! Jonen is such a cutie ☺. Smart, too! Enjoy every minute of these fun adventures with him. Do bring him to the cherry blossoms in UWA.
Beth , your posts always make my day. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Lots of love – Rose
